CloverField- A film by JJ Abrams

J.J Abrams, the executive producer of the familiar TV show “Lost” and “Six Degrees”, is bringing us a film supposedly titled “Cloverfield” in the beginning of 2008.
So far the production of this film has been held in secret, thus, not even a title has been revealed for this film. Right now the film is in post production, and its title is a subject to change.

I read some info about this project that JJ Abrams has been tackling, and it really sounded like a box of horse shit, until I saw the trailer.
Now, the trailer is not too appealing if you are looking for a Hollywood blow out film, rather, it is subtle and releases barely any information for this screening. Which makes this all too questionable.
Some of the research I’ve done suggests that this film is not far away of being another giant monster movie coming out of Hollywood. And what makes this different than any other giant monster movie? To my understanding this film is being shot using home video cameras to portray a point of view of real people experiencing an attack over New York.

It’s designed as a fairly small picture, all things considered, and right now, they’re working to make sure the script is going to deliver some wild thrills (like an earthquake that levels Manhattan or an oil tanker flipping over by the Statue of Liberty), but that it’s not suddenly going to turn into a giant $150 million movie. It’s a tricky balance, and if they pull off everything they’re trying to do, CLOVERFIELD could be something really groovy. Not a man in suit in sight. –from an article at aintitcool.com
