Great Actors Make Great Films
A good actor never makes 2 great movies one after another
What a statement, I thought, so I took it upon myself to prove it wrong.
First of all, let me fill you in. The whole argument started based upon upcoming films with good actors. You have a favorite actor for a reason, so you expect that their films are going to be good, but the off chances are, that the film is going to be a tragic disappointment. In which case the above statement followed.
It is hard for them actors to say no to an offer since they get so worked up especially after a tremendous film that they have made. At first glance this statement didn’t take me by surprise as for I almost believed that this is true. However, there are many amazing stars out there and they have kept their title by making great films repeatedly.
A great example comes to mind, Robert DeNiro. This guy everyone knows this guy, either from the classic GoodFellas or Casino or even some of his recent catch Meet the Parents1 and 2.
So far in my film career I have not met a person that dislikes Robert DeNiro. If you do I would like you to elaborate Why ?
So, lets see, After the Great Expectations in 1998, DeNiro, followed with Ronin and a comedy in 1999 Analyze this Also, Men of Honor followed by Meet the Parents in 2008. That is three great films one after another and a mix genre.
What DeNiro has in his film career is a pattern of film Genres. He likes to mix it up. After making a serious film, he throws in a successful comedy.
His newest film in theatres now Righteous Kill starrs Al Pacino, is a suspense thriller cop flick, which ratings are climbing. His next film coming up in theatres is What Just Happened a comedy about an unlucky married man.
Than again, DeNiro’s film career centered around amazing film directors such as Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Copolla and some of his own direction such as A Bronx Tale and The Good Shephard
And if that isn’t enough to break the statement above, I will dig out another classic face from the big screen.
Lets look at Leonardo DiCaprio. DiCaprio has successfully spun a few heads around a couple of times with his recent career moves. His glory of recognition on the big screen happened with the classic What’s Eating Gilbert Grape starring Johnny Depp in 1993.
Few years later he filled tears in the eyes of many women during Titanic in 1997, followed by The Man in the Iron Mask, where he played double character.
After Danny Boyle’s The Beach in 2000, DiCaprio disappeared from the big screen for couple of years, which seemed to give him excellent rest for a full thrust into Scorsese’s Gangs of New York in 2002 followed by Spielberg’s epic story Catch me if you Can then back to Scorsese’s Aviator in 2004, and The Departed 2006.
Now this man seems to know what he is doing, and he is hitting it hard!

Great post, i totally agree that there are not many actors that make 2 good movies in a row.
