Paramount to screen “The Love Guru” for Zed and other Hindu leaders

Paramount Pictures has agreed to screen upcoming Hollywood movie “The Love Guru” for Hindu leaders.

In a communiqué to prominent Indo-American leader Rajan Zed who is the president of Universal Society of Hinduism (USH); Jessica Rovins, Senior Vice President National Publicity of Paramount Pictures, wrote: “The Love Guru - which is still in post-production - is a satire created in the same spirit as Austin Powers. Along with Mike Myers, the film stars Jessica Alba, Verne Troyer, Justin Timberlake, Romany Malco, Deepak Chopra and Manu Narayan (who comes from a Hindu background). It is our full intention to screen the film for Rajan Zed and other Hindu leaders in the U.S. once we have a finished print.” Rovins is publicist on this film.

Meanwhile, pre-release clearance of “The Love Guru” by Hindu representatives has been gaining ground. Lila D. Sharma, President of India Heritage Panel, in a statement issued at Chandigarh (India), asked its makers to “secure clean chit from Hindu leaders before its June release”. “Hollywood is trying to make money by laughing at our holy men and in the process creating a stereotype,” Sharma added.

USH has earlier said that from the information available about the movie, it appeared to be lampooning Hinduism and Hindus and using Hindu terms frivolously. Its president Rajan Zed has been demanding that it be shown to Hindu representatives prior to its public release.

“The Love Guru”; a comedy starring Mike Myers (of Austin Powers fame, who is also the co-writer and co-producer), Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake, Ben Kingsley; and directed by Marco Schnabel; is set to release on June 20 next. The film is not yet rated. “His Karma is huge” is its tagline. In it Myers, an American, raised in an ashram in India, moves back to US as Guru Pitka to seek fame and fortune in the world of self-help and spirituality.

Universal Society of Hinduism aims at providing worldwide Hindu identity, enhancing understanding of Hinduism, and fostering interreligious dialogue.

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion followers. Moksha (liberation) is the ultimate goal of Hinduism.

Paramount Pictures Corporation is a global producer and distributor of filmed entertainment.

I agree with the bulk of your review, but have one nit to pick: SPECTRE hasn’t appeared in a Bond film since 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever, for reasons that have more to do with Kevin McClory’s laywers than political correctness. There are persistant rumours that Mr. White’s organization in Casino Royale may turn out to be SPECTRE, which I hope turns out not to be the case, as it will totally mess up the continuity of the series if it does.

this is some total bullshit, i mean comon how STUPID is the media? obviously VERY because games do not make you want to kill people at all unless you have a mental retardation problem or you are from some bum-****ed country. They need to have different jobs. The reason these people kill others is because they are being bullied and treated differently than normal people (wow? nope) so if they are already being treated differently than normal people, why not make it better and put them with their own kind. jeez congress men are stupid….

I agree completely, the movie was way too short and he ignored the fact that people who havent read the books will be attending the same movie as those who have. I was in the theatre with my sister who stopped reading the books after the third one and she had to ask time and time again what was going on.

Thanks for your reply. YES, I know that Casino Royale is the first Bond, before he became the James Bond we know and love now and that he is an amateur in this one. HOWEVER, I clearly pointed out that in Hollywood’s James Bond (the James Bond on the big screen that MOST of the public sees and knows) he had his balls cut off and slowly de-masculinized BEFORE the Casino Royale film, during the Pierce Brosnan years, so this transformation did NOT happen overnight in Hollywood. Look at Goldeneye and The World is Not Enough and then get back to me. I stated that in my article here.

Secondly, yes, I know there are some very sexy and kinky scenes in all the original Ian Fleming novels that did not make it to the big screen. Did you know Ursula Andress’ character in Dr. No comes out of the ocean TOTALLY NAKED and NOT in a bikini? My point is, what happens in the book and what goes on screen are two different things. We don’t need to see Bond naked and ogled over by other men in a mainstream heterosexual American society. The British on the other hand…that may be another story entirely.

I have heard this argument before, so I am sorry, but I disagree with your point. Thank you for your comment anyway.

An absolutely rubbish write up. Do you actually know anything about Casino Royale at all ?
The scene in which Bond is being tortured naked in the chair is a scene that Ian Fleming wrote in the book. Allbeit the chair was mechanical, so YES Barbera Brocoli was right to include it.
The story in casino royale is about his first assingment and he is a little bit green behind the gills and Craig played it brilliantly. Keep watching the next few films and you can bet your hymen he will develop into the Bond we all know and love

I agree with number 4. This may be a sarcasim misunderstood situation, but i it isn’t then I agree with numbers 2 and 3. Marilyn Manson is the best thing that’s ever happened in the music industry.
